Coronavirus HIGHLIGHTS, June 2, 2021: Covid-19 active cases are down by 50 per cent, 1.3 lakh decrease in active cases in a day, says the Union Health Ministry, adding that the cases have been consistently declining for one week in at least 30 States/UT. Since May 28, the country is reporting less than 2 lakh cases. There is a decline of infection in the country with the recoveries increasing to 92% now. In a major decision, the Central Board of Secondary Education has cancelled Class 12 Board Exams 2021 on the backdrop of second wave of Coronavirus. The decision was taken during a high-end meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself.

As far as the vaccines are concerned, the Ministry informed that a total of 21.60 crore vaccine doses have been administered in the country so far.

Rahul Gandhi Alleges Govt Hiding Covid Deaths
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi Wednesday accused the Central government of "hiding" the actual coronavirus death figures, even as he urged people to raise their voice for universal free vaccination.
"Vaccine is the strongest protection against the corona pandemic. You should also raise your voice for providing free vaccination to the people of the country - wake up the central government," he said on Twitter, using the hashtag #SpeakUpForFreeUniversalVaccination.
Maharashtra Records 15,169 New Covid Cases, 285 Deaths
Maharashtra on Wednesday recorded 15,169 new COVID-19 cases, taking the tally to 57,76,184, and 285 fresh deaths and also added 268 previously unreported fatalities, the state health department said.
The statewide toll rose to 96,751.

SC Sirects Centre To Place On Record Documents On Covid Vaccination Policy
The Supreme Court has asked the Centre to place on record all relevant documents and file notings reflecting its thinking culminating in the COVID-19 vaccination policy, and the purchase history till date of all jabs including Covaxin, Covishield and Sputnik V.
A special bench of Justices D Y Chandrachud, L N Rao and S Ravindra Bhat said: While filing it's affidavit, UoI shall also ensure that copies of all the relevant documents and file notings reflecting its thinking and culminating in the vaccination policy are also annexed on the vaccination policy.
