PM Modi And Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi To Hold Wide-Ranging Talks

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold extensive talks with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Wednesday, reported news agency PTI.

Abdel Fattah El-Sisi arrived in New Delhi on Tuesday for a three-day state visit with the goal of strengthening ties between the two countries in agriculture, the digital domain, and trade.

On Wednesday, Sisi will receive a formal welcome at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in preparation for his talks with Modi. S Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs, will also contact Sisi.

According to people familiar with the situation, the two sides are anticipated to sign half a dozen agreements to strengthen ties in a number of areas following the talks.

On January 26, the powerful Arab leader, who is 68 years old, will attend the Republic Day celebrations.

A high-level delegation consisting of five ministers and senior officials will accompany Sisi.

In October 2015, the Egyptian president went to India to take part in the third India-Africa Forum Summit. In September 2016, he went on a state visit.

The Egyptian President has never before been invited to attend India's Republic Day celebrations as the main guest. The Egyptian Army's military contingent will also take part in the Republic Day parade.

Lakhimpur Kheri Violence: SC To Pronounce Order On Ashish Mishra's Bail Plea

The bail plea of Ashish Mishra, an accused in the 2021 Lakhimpur Kheri violence case and the son of Union Minister Ajay Kumar Mishra, is expected to be decided on Wednesday by the Supreme Court.

A bench consisting of Justices Surya Kant and J K Maheshwari will issue the order, according to the cause list that was posted on the website of the Supreme Court on January 25.

On January 19, the bench reserved its decision regarding Mishra's application.

Eight people were killed on October 3, 2021, in Tikunia in the Lakhimpur Kheri district. There had been violence there when farmers were protesting the visit of then-Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya to the area.

The Uttar Pradesh Police FIR claims that an SUV in which Ashish Mishra was seated struck and killed four farmers.
