Welcome to the ABP News LIVE for Sunday, March 8, 2021: The second half of Parliament’s Budget Session began on a stormy note on Monday as the opposition Congress demanded a discussion on the fuel price hike, leading to the adjournment of the House till 11 am. Early on Monday, the Trinamool Congress sought the adjournment of the session citing state elections are only a few weeks away and MPs may not be able to attend.
Breaching the 11000-mark for the first time in five months, Maharashtra registered 11,141 Covid-19 cases on Sunday. The last time the state witnessed over 11,000 cases in a day was on October 16 with 11,447 cases.

Asaduddin Owaisi's AIMIM Joins Dhinakaran's AMMK For Tamil Nadu Polls
Asaduddin Owaisi's party AIMIM is all set to try its luck in the upcoming Tamil Nadu assembly elections. AIMIM has tied up with Sasikala's nephew TTV Dinakaran's Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) for next month's Tamil Nadu polls. Under the alliance agreement, Owaisi's party will contest on three seats - Vaniyambadi, Krishnagiri and Shankarapuram.
AIMIM has fared well in the last few assembly elections. The party had won five seats in the Bihar state polls. AIMIM has decided to try its luck in the West Bengal 2021 assembly elections as well. Tamil Nadu election result will be announced on May 2.

According to a report in news agency ANI, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday said that BJP Leader Jyotiraditya Scindia could have become chief minister with the Congress but has become a backbencher in the saffron party.
While speaking to the Youth Wing of the party, Gandhi said, "He (Scindia) would have become the Chief Minister had he stayed with Congress but Scindia has become a backbencher in the BJP."
Delhi Court Convicts Ariz Khan In Batla House Encounter Case
In a major development, a Delhi Court on Monday convicted Ariz Khan, an alleged Indian Mujahideen operative, accused in a case related to the 2008 Batla House encounter. The 35-year-old Ariz Khan was arrested in in 2018 in connection with Batla House encounter.
