Breaking News LIVE Updates September 24, 2021: The Defence Ministry on Thursday sealed a contract to procure 118 Main Battle Tanks (MBTs) Arjun for the Indian Army at a cost of ₹ 7,523 crore, in a major move to boost its combat capabilities.
The defence ministry placed the order for the Arjuna Mk-1A tanks with the Heavy Vehicles Factory (HVF), Avadi, Chennai.
The MBT Mk-1A is a new variant of Arjun Tank designed to enhance fire power, mobility and survivability, infused with 72 new features and more indigenous content from the Mk-1 variant.

UPSC has declared the final result of the Civil Services Examination, 2020. A total of 761 candidates have been recommended for appointment, news agency ANI reported.
Shubham Kumar has secured the 1st position. He has graduated in B Tech (Civil Engineering) from IIT Bombay. Jagrati Awasthi is the topper among the women candidates securing an overall Second rank. She has graduated in B Tech (Electrical Engineering) from MANIT Bhopal, UPSC informed.
The top 25 candidates comprise 13 men and 12 women. The recommended candidates also include 25 persons with Benchmark Disability (07 Orthopedically Handicapped, 04 Visually Challenged, 10 Hearing Impaired & 04 Multiple Disabilities).

"The schools in Maharashtra will reopen from October 4. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has approved this, the task force and health department have also approved the decision of reopening schools in the state": Varsha Gaikwad, Maharashtra Minister for School Education, said.
"In rural areas classes will resume from std 5th to 12th and in urban areas from std 8th to 12th. Govt is making efforts to bring back children to schools. Local authorities have been given powers," she added.
Maharashtra Minister for School Education further informed that "students will come to schools only with consent of their parents, attendance will not be made compulsory for any beneficiary scheme or exam. Students will be able to receive education through both online and offline mediums. Our content is available on YouTube too".
