The contentious bill to unify the three municipal corporations in Delhi is listed for passage in Lok Sabha on Wednesday.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Kongkal Sangma to resolve the border dispute between the two states, on Tuesday at 3:30 pm.
The chief ministers of Assam and Meghalaya signed the agreement at the office of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs in New Delhi to resolve the 50-year-old pending boundary dispute between their states, news agency ANI reported.
In other news, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said the use of intimidation and violence against political opponents was a "violation of democratic rights".
Addressing the 'Matua Dharma Maha Mela 2022' virtually in West Bengal's Thakurnagar on the occasion of Harichand Thakur Jayanti, PM Modi said, "It is a democratic right to participate in political activities, but the use of intimidation and violence against political opponents is a violation of democratic rights."
India Covid-19 News
In covid related news, the central government said Tuesday that India has one of the “lowest” 374 Covid-19 deaths per million population, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), compared to similarly affected countries, which include the United States of America, Brazil, Russia, and Mexico.
The Union Minister of State for Health Bharati Pravin Pawar told the Rajya Sabha in a written reply that certain reports have at times speculated excess deaths, news agency PTI reported. By excess deaths, she referred to the fact that the number of deaths speculated was higher than the official number of Covid-19 fatalities reported by India.
No-Confidence Motion Against Pak PM Imran Khan
Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday 'strictly' directed members of his party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the National Assembly either to abstain from voting or not to attend the Parliament on March 31, the day of voting on the no-confidence motion against him.
In the letter subjected as: "Directions to abstain from voting on the No-Confidence Resolution moved in the National Assembly against the honourable Prime Minister of Pakistan", the party has listed all the dos and don'ts for PTI members in the National Assembly.
The letter, shared by PTI on Twitter, was signed by Imran Khan, who is also the Chairman and the parliamentary leader of Pakistan's ruling party.
Russia-Ukraine Conflict
The first face-to-face talks between Russia and Ukraine in two weeks which began earlier in the day in Turkey has ended with Moscow agreeing to 'radically' reduce military activity near the capital Kyiv and Chernigiv, news agency AFP reported.
After the meeting, Russian negotiators stated that 'meaningful' talks were held with Ukraine. They also said that a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelensky could be possible after the Istanbul talks.

Mumbai's Joint Commissioners Of Police To Be On Night Duty Twice A Month
Mumbai, Mar 30 (PTI) Senior police officers in Mumbai, including Joint Commissioners of Police, will have to do night duty once every 15 days, officials said on Wednesday. A circular in this regard has been issued by Mumbai police commissioner Sanjay Pandey.
Officers of the rank of Additional Commissioner of Police will supervise night duty once in 10 days, whereas joint CPs will oversee 'nakabandis' (setting up road blocks) and other operations. (PTI)
China Says No Limit For Cooperation With Russia As Lavrov Arrives For Talks Amid Ukraine War
Hosting Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, the first high-level Russian official to visit Beijing after the Ukraine war, China on Wednesday said cooperation between the two allies has no ceiling to resist hegemony.
Lavrov arrived in Tunxi, east China's Anhui Province, for the third meeting of foreign ministers on Afghanistan, Russia's official news agency Tass reported on Wednesday.
"There is no ceiling for China-Russia cooperation, no ceiling for us to strive for peace, no ceiling for us to safeguard security and no ceiling for us to oppose hegemony, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin told a media briefing here when asked to describe the limits of China-Russia relations.
