Tesla In India: Electric Based Vehicle To Hit Market In 'Early 2021'

Tesla in India confirmed: Given the space for clean energy and government's focus on reducing carbon emissions, the US-based car manufacturer Tesla is all set to start sending customised vehicle to the Indian market in early 2021.

Termed as car of the future - Tesla - is all set to make its appearance in the Indian market in the year 2021. Tesla, which is electric based automobile, has alluded the Indian automobile market for long. Given the space for clean energy and government's focus on reducing carbon emissions, the US-based car manufacturer is all set to start sending customised vehicle to the Indian market. On Monday, Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, reportedly confirmed Tesla's debut in India early next year. However, there is no official confirmation for the launch dates so far. It is learned that the US electric vehicle maker is likely to launch its S3 model in India by June 2021. Sources in the know of the development told ABP News that bookings for the sedan will start next month. More affordable Tesla Model 3, at first, will come to India as completely build units (CBU) suited as per Indian norms. It is to be understood that Tesla will start its distribution and sales in the upcoming year. Manufacturing and assembly of Tesla cars will be a project that will fructify later. Instead of dealership networks, Tesla will do business through online sales as the company does in its home market in the US. In a tweet reply to a handle in October had said “next year for sure” the Tesla operations can be up and running in India. Model 3 - Price and Range Tesla plans to debut in India with its most affordable product, Model 3, which also forms the bulk of its revenues worldwide. The entry-level Model 3, launched in 2017 will have an approximate entry price of Rs 55 lakh. Model 3 will come with a range of 500 kilometers on a single charge and a top speed of 162 Kmph. In a matter of 3.1 seconds, the car can accelerate from zero to 100 kmph. Both the times billionaire Elon Musk blamed norms or termed difficulties in entering the Indian market. The government is pushing to make India the global manufacturing hub for automobiles, and especially electric vehicles. Tesla may start its India operation with a sales office and gradually scale it up with assembly and manufacturing lines depending upon its response from the Indian market.
