Hyderabad: Rage Suryaprasad, an 8-year-old boy from Andhra Pradesh's Anantapur district, became India's second person to climb the Uhuru peak in Mt Kilimanjaro range. Surya Prasad earned a record as the first child in the Telugu states to accomplish such a feat.
On April 1, Suryaprasad started climbing the Uhuru mountain range in Tanzania with his assistant Purushottam. The climate of this mountain range is also very different. The mountain is about 5,895 meters (5.89 km) above sea level and is the highest free-standing peak in Africa. Mountaineers have to brace themselves for a variety of climates, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and snow. Overcoming all this, he reached the summit on April 5, where he displayed the flag of India and a photo of Chief Minister YS Jagan.

The eight-year-old mountaineer has clinched a gold medal in the U-20 category at the 2021 Taekwondo Olympics in Bangalore.
Noting down the interest of his son, his parents send him to a rock climbing institute in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district in Telangana. The training took place in 2021 in the months of September and October under the supervision of his trainer Shekhar Babu. Later, at Gandikota in the Kadapa district, he trained to climb high hills and areas for another month. Suryaprasad's father said that he has practiced walking and running for kilometres in the morning.
Suryaprasad said that with the encouragement of his parents and with the help of the trainers, it became possible for him to scale Uhuru peak in Tanzania. He said that he would take the practice seriously in the future and prepare to climb more mountains, ABP Desam reported.
