New Delhi: Well-known distributor and producer Nayaran Das Narang and head of the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce, passed away on Tuesday.


He had been suffering from age-related issues for the last few months. Narayan Das was 76 years old.


In a career spanning four decades, Mr. Narang financed over 650 films. He began his career as a movie financier in the 80’s. He has also seen the rise of the Tollywood industry and has contributed in fair means to that.


Narayan Das distributed several films and owned a multiplex in Hyderabad, besides also being a co-owner of AMB Cinemas there. He has previously produced popular films such as Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi’s  'Love Story' and Naga Shaurya’s  'Lakshya'.


Narayan Das Narang also had many upcoming projects including Shekhar Kammula's directorial with Dhanush as the lead and 'Ghost' starring Akkineni Nagarjuna.


Several members of the film fraternity paid their respects to the veteran producer whose contribution is significant behind-the-camera.


Actors such as Chiranjeevi, Mahesh Babu, Sivakarthikeyan, Ravi Teja among others offered condolences on social media.


Mahesh Babu took to his official Twitter handle to share, “Shocked and saddened by the demise of #NarayanDasNarang garu. A prolific figure in our film industry.. his absence will be deeply felt. A privilege to have known and worked with him.”


In the same thread, he also tweeted, “His vision and passion for cinema is an inspiration for many of us. Strength and condolences to his family and loved ones.”






The last rites of the producer began at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, with many celebrities present to pay their respects and condolences at Mahaprasthanam. 


Chiranjeevi, Naga Chaitanya and Nagarjuna were also spotted at the funeral.


Narayan Das Narang is survived by his son, Sunil, who is also a renowned movie exhibitor and producer.
