2019 BMW 7 Series Launched At Rs 1.23 Crores

The luxury sedan is available in a total of six variants with four powertrain options

BMW has launched the 2019 iteration of its flagship sedan, the 7 Series, in India in the range of  Rs 1.22 crore to Rs 2.43 crore (ex-showroom India). It is available in six long-wheelbase variants.

2019 BMW 7 Series Launched At Rs 1.23 Crores

The 2019 7 Series debuts the new oversized, single-piece kidney grille from BMW in India. The side profile gets subtle new air curtains behind the front fender whereas the rear end gets an updated bumper and taillamp unit with a connecting strip. Alloy wheels on offer range from 18-inch to 20-inches. BMW offers a panoramic glass roof as standard whereas higher variants get Sky Lounge feature with 15,000 illuminated graphics embedded into the glass panel.

The interiors get changes such as a new steering wheel with updated control design. Seats in all variants are covered with the Nappa leather but differ in terms of colours and finish levels. The 7 Series gets a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster coupled with a 10.25-inch touchscreen with latest iDrive system with 32GB of onboard storage. Rear passengers get two tiltable 10.25-inch BluRay screens for entertainment.

For safety, BMW has packed the 7 Series with front, side, head airbags, ABS with EBD, dynamic braking lights, cornering braking control, traction control, ISOFIX, TPMS and electric parking brake with auto-hold function among many other goodies.

The 7 Series is powered by a range of six-cylinder units and a V12 unit depending on the variant. Its available with two petrol, one plug-in hybrid and a diesel engine, all mated to an 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission. The 745Le (Plug-in hybrid) comes with 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder unit that delivers 384PS/600Nm of combined figures. BMW claims a fuel efficiency figure of 39.5kmpl and a range of 58km on pure electric power. This version has a top speed of 140kmph. The batteries can be fully juiced up using a regular 220V socket in 8 to 12 hours. It also packs a regenerative energy feature.

The 740Li features the 3.0-litre turbocharged in-line 6-cylinder petrol unit churns out 250PS/450Nm. The diesel with similar capacity is good for 265PS and 620Nm of torque. But those looking for some serious power under the hood, then it is the M760Li xDrive that you should be looking at. This variant packs a 6.6-litre, V12 that delivers 609PS/850Nm with variable torque distribution and active steering. The 7 Series also gets twin-axle air suspension with adaptive damping as standard. It allows for adjusting the ride height, increasing it by 20mm to clear speed bumps. The 2019 7-Series will continue to rival the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Lexus LS 500h and the aging the Jaguar XJ.
