The period of closure will be used by the facility operator to carry out major work such as runway edge lights for runway 14/32, upgradation of AGL (aeronautical ground lights ), among others, it stated.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) said with the cooperation of key stakeholders, it has already rescheduled flights for the runway closure period to ensure smooth completion of the maintenance work.

Meanwhile, Indian Railways decided to cancel 263 trains on Friday, September 23 due to maintenance and operational reasons, according to the website of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd. It has also decided to change sourced station in 38 trains and short terminate 56 on Friday.

In view of doubling work between Sindhavadar-Kankot-Khorana-Bileshwar in Rajkot – Surendranagar section of Rajkot division, and non-interlocking work for 4th line connectivity at Ib station of Raigarh-Jharsuguda section of Bilaspur Division, few Western Railway trains will also remain cancelled, the Western Railway informed in a tweet on Friday.
