From ancient marvels and snow-dusted peaks to cultural festivities and unmatched wellness experiences, Saudi has it all and is just a short flight away.

The monsoon season transforms nature into a lush tapestry, but monsoon travel plans often pose a dilemma for enthusiasts. Amid the scenic beauty, there is always the uncertainty of rains, floods and infections. The key is to carry all the essentials so that you can enjoy the trip to the fullest. This monsoon, you can travel internationally and visit a country with the refreshing beaches of the Red Sea or the cooler mountainous terrains of Aseer and Taif. Yes, we are talking about Saudi Arabia. From ancient marvels and snow-dusted peaks to cultural festivities and unmatched wellness experiences, Saudi has it all and is just a short flight away.

It doesn’t matter if you’re backpacking solo, travelling with your family, or seeking a luxurious couple’s retreat- the pristine beaches, unseen mountain ranges, and bustling towns of Saudi are ready to keep any and everybody hooked. But, if you are struggling with your itinerary, look no further, for we have got you covered.

It takes approximately 5 hours to travel to Saudi and you can choose from up to 12 airlines operating between the two countries. Getting your hands on a visa is also easier than ever before. Indians with a valid US or Schengen visa can get their Saudi visa on arrival. Others can simply apply for an e-visa through any of the 10 VFS Tasheel offices across the country.

Previously, Indian tourists had to go through a lengthy visa process, but now Saudi Arabia has introduced a simplified visa series for Indian tourists under its Saudi Vision 2030, aiming to make India its number-one tourism market. Saudi expects almost 2.2 million Indian travellers to visit Saudi Arabia by the end of 2024.

Here is a 5-day itinerary for your adventurous Saudi Arabia trip:

Day1: Relaxation and Culinary Exploration in Riyadh

After reaching Saudi, take some rest, freshen up and begin your day exploring the capital city's rich heritage through museums, and historical architecture mixed with modern art scenes, highlighted by the Riyadh Art initiative that turns the city into an open-air gallery.

Immerse yourselves in shopping therapy at Riyadh Park, which offers global shopping brands to help you keep up with fashion and beauty trends. One must also dive through an exceptional blend of traditional and contemporary items at Souk Al-Zal traditional market, Riyadh’s oldest market. A stroll there will find you a unique souvenir to take back.

For the best traditional dining experience, visit Al Najdiyah Village, renowned for its authentic Saudi cuisine and traditional setting. And if you’re a luxury dining fan, then you must also add Bujairi Terrace to your itinerary. Located in Diriyah, a 30-minute drive from the capital city of Riyadh, it's a premium luxury dining destination with a curation of 21 exquisite restaurants and cafes that overlook the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Al-Turaif – the birthplace of Saudi.

On another exciting note- the first-ever e-sports World Cup is set to take place in Riyadh from July 3 - August 25, 2024.

Day2: Choose your adventure amidst nature: Taif or Aseer

Hit Taif, or Aseer mountains on your second day with a refreshed mood that promises to give you the most beautiful and breezy hikes as well as cool down. Despite summer, temperatures in these destinations are cool year-round, making them the perfect spot for exploration.

Taif’s Al Hada mountains will allow you to enjoy panoramic natural views, beautiful rose fields, and baboons through ancient zig-zagging camel trails. One also gets a chance to indulge in a cable car experience down to the valley of the Al Hada mountain, once you reach the top. With a variety of wildlife scattered across these mountains, try to spot Arabian tigers while you get your hands on delicious local fruits and dry fruits like apricots, peaches, figs, and more.

If you’re an adventure seeker, then indulge in an 8km hike on the Soudah mountains in Abha, the Aseer region’s capital city. There are lighter hikes also for a rejuvenating family time.

When you get back, sit and relax at local hotspots and eateries. Don’t forget to enjoy the Aseer Summer which boasts a package of activities ranging from visual art, Aseeri fashion, pottery making, and calligraphy, to tastes of local flavours such as honey and ghee.
