North East India has everything that a tourist would want — little adventure, amusement, culture, and heritage. Now that it is time for some summer break time, it is time to explore some of the less talked about unexplored destinations from North East India. So, here’s a list of places in the North East one must visit in 2022. 

Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh

Situated at the altitude of 3048 meters amongst the mighty Himalayan range, it is known for its scenic landscapes and waterfalls. The picturesque hill station is also known for its spiritual significance.

The spirit of Buddhism can be seen in Tawang Monastery which is the largest monastery in Indian and the second largest in the whole world. One can experience the lives of the monks as they do their everyday chores. Whether you want to surround yourself with the beauty of nature or explore its rich heritage, the town has something for all. The best time to visit Tawang is from March to June and from September to October. 

Mawlynnong Village, Meghalaya

Mawlynnong village which is located in Meghalaya is called “God’s own Garden”. In 2003, it was awarded the title of “Cleanest village in India by Discover India. The village is known for its tribal population, The Khasi Tribe. The town has also been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. 

One of the main attractions includes the “Living Root Bridges” which connect the roots of different trees thus making a bridge over rivers that can be used to cross them. The village is known for its Sky View. The site has an eighty-five feet high tower made out of bamboo which provides a beautiful view of the landscape of Bangladesh. The best time to visit the town is from March to June. 

Ziro, Arunachal Pradesh

Ziro Valley is an enchanting holiday destination in the North-Eastern region of India. Its sprawling rice fields, quaint villages, and green hills vailed with a thick blanket of flora make it a perfect destination for a staycation. Its scenic beauty and natural life attract many nature lovers and photographers from all around the world every year. 

Ziro valley is a perfect place for all adventure seekers. It not only provides a bewitching trekking experience but also offers jungle camping and the opportunity to explore its wildlife. The best time to visit Ziro Valley is from March to October. 

Anini, Arunachal Pradesh

A place where clouds kiss the land. Lying in the Dibang Valley district, Anini is known for its pleasant weather and natural beauty. Its serene beauty is unmatched and it can calm you to the very core. When visiting Anini, do not forget to visit neighbouring tribal villages including Anaya, Hunli, Ranli, etc. One can go for local sightseeing, trekking, and even visit the Mehao Wildlife sanctuary. The best time to visit Anini is from November to March.

Mon Village, Nagaland

A place that provides tourists unique and captivating view of people with tattooed faces and feathery loincloths. One can visit neighbouring towns to get a close picture of the life of Nagas. When visiting Mon, don’t forget to visit Veda Peak and Naganimora. The people, their culture, and attire are very colourful and are one of the most interesting aspects of the town. The best time to visit Mon Village is between the months of October and May.
