Subhas Chandra Bose Jayanti 2023: Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, a prominent figure in India's independence movement, is remembered for his famous slogan "You give me blood, I will give you freedom." Born on January 23rd, 1897 in Cuttack, Odisha, he was the ninth child of Prabhavati Devi and Janakinath Bose, a well-known lawyer and member of the Bengal Legislative Assembly.
During World War II, Netaji formed the Indian National Army with the support of Japan to fight against British rule. January 23rd, 2023 marks the 126th anniversary of his birth.
Despite a successful career in the administrative service, Netaji left his job to dedicate himself to the freedom struggle. He was imprisoned 11 times, with his first term starting in July 1921. He also served twice as President of the Indian National Congress.
Netaji's death remains a mystery. He was travelling to Japan in 1945 when his plane reportedly crashed in Taiwan, but his remains have never been found.
