Pathetic: Denied a mortuary van, watch husband in Odisha carries wife’s body on shoulders
New Delhi: In Bhawanipatna in Odisha’s Kalahandi district, a husband had to carry his wife's dead body on his shoulders as the hospital authorities did not provide a mortuary van or an ambulance.
The sorry episode occurred at the district headquarters hospital where Amang Dei (42) was being treated for tuberculosis, Odisha TV reported.
Despite all his efforts, Dei’s husband Dana Manjhi was not able to get an ambulance. Therefore, he decided to carry his wife’s body on his shoulders. Manjhi was accompanied by his 12-year-old daughter who all this while could be seen crying in the video.
The incident is shameful for the entire human race where despite tall claims, even after so many years of independence, state governments are unable to provide poor people an ambulance!
