'MA English Chaiwali': Unable To Secure Job, Masters Graduate Tuktuki Das Opens Tea Shop To Pursue New Passion
Failing to grab any job despite her qualification, Tuktuki decided to open a "tea stall."
New Delhi: Amidst the hustle and bustle of Kolkata's city life, where everyone is in the race of finding means to survive, Tuktuki Das, a post-graduate in English literature from Rabindrabharati Open University, opens a tea shop under the banner of "MA English Chaiwali."
Failing to grab any job despite her qualification, Tuktuki decided to open a tea stall. At first, her parents didn't get the idea. They put up their sentiments in protest of their educated daughter opening up a chai counter. It didn't work. Tuktuki was all set to fly with her idea and make something of her own.
Brimming with the hope of starting something of her own, she began convincing her parents. It was not easy. After a lot of googling over the internet, she came up with other people who were running a successful tea enterprise. Most of them started from a humble background, just like her. At last, the parents succumbed to their daughter's willpower.
Tuktuki’s father is a van driver and her mother owns a small grocery shop.
Inspired by the idea of "MBA Chaiwalla" on Youtube, Tuktuki rented a tea shop in Habra station and began her own enterprise on November 1, 2021. On the first day of business, as a token of her gratitude and happiness, she distributed free tea to many of her customers.
Stating that no work is "small," Tuktuki has geared up the determination to make her enterprise bigger.
With her own brand of Tea, Tuktuki said, "the shop name suggests that you can do whatever you want to do in spite of your educational qualification."
Commuters find themselves gravitating more towards Tuktuki tea-stall for her name "MA English Chaiwali" and they are able to see Tuktuki's story as an inspiration for the youth who irrespective of having good educational qualifications are not able to secure a job.
