This year the festival will be celebrated on October 24. On this day, women adorn themselves with jewellery and ornaments. Women also apply mehndi on their hands.

Here are four things to avoid on Karwa Chauth:
1- Black Clothes
Red, yellow, pink, and orange clothes are worn at the time of some auspicious work or puja. However, wearing black clothes is considered inauspicious. Black-coloured clothes should not be included in auspicious work. If you are gifting your wife a dress or saree on Karwa Chauth, take care of the colour as it should not be black.
2- Stay away from white colour
Like black, white colour is also not good to gift on the occasion of Karwa Chauth. White clothes are worn in puja, and other such activities but because Karva Chauth is a fast for the longevity of the husband, it is not auspicious to gift white clothes on this day as they are also associated with mourning in the Hindu faith. Avoid giving any white colour gift to your wife on Karwa Chauth day. These can be inauspicious.
3- Don't give sewing and weaving items
Many women are fond of sewing and weaving. If you are taking your wife to get a Karwa Chauth gift, avoid gifting sewing, embroidery, and weaving items. During Karwa Chauth vrat, it is necessary to follow all rules carefully. Don't gift anything sharp to your wife on this day.
4- Don't order heavy dinner
Often husbands plan surprises for wives and order dinner for them from outside. In such a situation, make sure that if you do not order heavy dinner from outside. The women who have not drunk or eaten anything throughout the day can face health issues if given something heavy to eat. So it is advisable to have food that is easy to digest and does not prove to me taxing for their health.
