New Delhi: The most awaited week of the year dedicated to love is here! The weeklong festival of love begins with the celebration of Rose Day on Monday (February 7) every year. The Rose day is followed by Propose Day, Chocolate Day, Teddy Day, Promise Day, Hug Day, Kiss Day, and, finally, Valentine’s Day on February 14.
Interestingly, if you look at the word ‘rose’, the letters can be rearranged to form the word ‘Eros’, who is called the God of love. The first day of this special week begins with people gifting roses as a token of their love.

Gifting rose is seen as the perfect way to express love without doing much talking. Each colour of the rose signifies a different sentiment of its own. For instance, Red roses remain the most traditional Valentine’s Day flower signifying love, perfection, and desire. Dark red roses represent humility or unconscious beauty.
Orange roses imply life, energy, passion, and excitement while the yellow rose is synonymous with friendship, optimism, and joy. However, in the earlier days, especially during the Victorian era, the yellow rose symbolized jealousy, declining love, and infidelity while white roses were an expression of purity, innocence, grace, and humility.
On this special day, anybody can gift roses as the occasion is not restricted to couples. You can also celebrate Rose Day by giving roses to friends and loved ones. You can select the rose colour keeping in mind the message you want to share with your loved ones.
