New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday, will make a statement in Parliament regarding firing at All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi's car in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh.


He is expected to make the statement in front of the MPs (Member of Parliament) around 11.30 am today.


Bothe the houses of the Parliament, the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha will also be adjourned today for an hour as a mark of respect for the legendry singer Lata Mangeshkar, who passed away on Sunday, February 6 at a Mumbai hospital


Asaduddin Owaisi had alleged that on February 3, shots were fired on the vehicle he was travelling while returning to Delhi from poll-bound Uttar Pradesh. 


According to Owaisi, miscreants had fired three to four rounds of bullets upon his vehicle near Chhajarsi toll plaza - on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway - while he was heading back to the capital from his election campaign in Kithaur district in Meerut.


"Bullets were fired on my vehicle near Chhajarsi toll plaza. Four rounds were fired. There were three-four people, all of them fled leaving behind the weapon on the scene. My vehicle got punctured, but I left from there in another vehicle. We are all safe," Owaisi tweeted.


Soon after the incident, police arrested two people in connection with the shooting at AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi. Both the accused were sent to 14-day judicial custody after they were made to appear before a court by police post interrogation.


The first miscreant was arrested by the police from the spot, while the other accused surrendered in a police station in Ghaziabad.
