• The classic saree is a timeless choice. Opt for rich silk sarees in jewel tones like deep reds and royal blues, and don't forget to drape them elegantly. Accessorize with statement jewelry for a regal look.
• Anarkali suits are perfect for those who prefer a touch of modernity. Choose one in bright shades like kesariya orange or mustard yellow/forest green and intricate embroidery to add a contemporary twist to tradition. Pair it with chandelier earrings and you're ready to dazzle.
• Lehengas are the epitome of grandeur. Go for lehengas with intricate work, such as zari or mirror embellishments, for a majestic appearance. Match them with a contrasting blouse and a statement belt to accentuate your waist.
• If comfort is your priority, opt for a well-tailored or body fit patiala salwar kameez. Select one in a festive color palette like peacock blue or maroon and embellish it with intricate thread work. Pair it with juttis and a potli bag for a chic yet comfortable Diwali look.

• It’s all about your drape

“What makes sarees so beautiful and wardrobe must-haves for the festivities is how easy it is to adapt them to your personal aesthetic sensibilities. By switching up the drape, or even creating your own, you can easily mould these six yards into an extraordinary fashion statement,” shared Sujata, who enjoys draping sarees over jeans and skirts, and in various styles. She recommended searching online for tutorials and inspiration, and letting your imagination run wild. "Don’t be afraid to think outside the box – cinching your waist with a corset, for instance, is an excellent way to add structure, while paring your saree with a long kurta adds a bohemian flair," she added.

• Colour-block for maximum impact

Colour-blocking, or using contrasting but complimentary combinations, can help you to put together head-turning looks, added Taniya. "If you’re wondering what colours to pair, refer to a colour wheel and pair colours that are opposite each other on the wheel. You can come up with several interesting and eye-catching combinations that keep your look festive and yet very individualistic," she explained.

• Pre-stitched sarees combine style and convenience

"Over the years, we’ve seen people have increasingly gravitated towards pre-draped sarees as it allows you to move seamlessly and ensure that your saree looks picture-perfect over longer durations of time, especially if you aren’t accustomed to draping sarees regularly," said Taniya. 

• Be silky smooth

Silk is in, in a big way this Diwali, say the co-founders. “This is an exciting fabric to work with, because it lends itself to so many beautiful weaves. We’re partial to the glistening Chanderi and Mashru weaves, which are delicate to look at, while also effortless to drape and wear. Organza is also a popular choice this year,” says Sujata. Additionally, she points out that silk, in any weave, has a vintage, classic appeal that only grows with time.

• Shine bright with zari

Zari embellishments add an instance radiance to your festive looks, from the lightest mul-mul cotton weaves to more ornate silk sarees. "If you’re uncomfortable wearing very heavily embellished, traditional weave, we highly recommend mul-mul and zari sarees, or a zari and linen combination – these are lightweight fabrics that flatter your curves, and the addition of zari infuses a subtle radiance to your ensemble," says Sujata, adding that chumkis (or sequins) are also a great way to add a little shimmer for the festivities. 

• Shop from your wardrobe

Being mindful about your purchases is especially important this time of the year. Buy only what you need and shop frequently from your wardrobe, cautioned Sujata. "Mix and match combinations you’ve never tried before – your crop top or shirt works just as well under as saree as a traditional blouse, while your belts, jackets and shrugs can be used to dress up your saree in unconventional ways. In a pinch, you can easily borrow or swap items with your loved ones – it is the season for sharing and caring, after all!" she said.

• Accessories make all the difference

Cloth, metal or paper – unconventional jewellery is all the rage this time of the year. Step out of the box with your choice of jewellery and try on different combinations. Mix metals, opt for fabric pieces and layer to your heart’s content – it’s a simple but effective way to pull a look together and really make it your own, said Sujata and Taniya.

He said, "Stoles can amp up your style manyfolds. They need to be styled in a way that they become part of your outfit yet stand out and make a style statement."

 

If you are someone who is fond of Indian art, you can try classic stoles like Madhubani, kalamari or even worli to give a classc touch to your outfit. Here are some tips shared by him on how to style them up:

• Either with a slip top or a dress, on top, like a wrap around
• One could make narrow pleats and wear it over a plain solid colour shirt, like a bustier 
• You can always wear it like a dupatta, on one side, especially if it has intricate work on it or motifs
• You could pair a belt with it and enhance the look
• Men can also style our stoles in a rather royal manner, around their shoulders, like a shawl over a kurta, this Diwali.
