International Women’s Day 2022: Google Doodle Celebrates Multitude Roles Of Women In Society

The theme for International Women’s Day 2022 is "Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow," whereas as the campaign theme is #BreakTheBias.

Womens Day Google Doodle: International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8 every year around the globe to celebrate womanhood and address and speak up against the concerns of women. This year’s Google Doodle celebrates women peforming multitude of roles in the society. In an animated Google Doodle which can be viewed on the homepage of the search engine, doodles of culturally diverse women can be seen with a globe in the centre. 

As one would hover over the Google Doodle, a play button props up and upon clicking the play button, one can view animated slides of women performing various responsibilities and tasks. The slides range from a woman working on her laptop and also looking after her kids, to a handicapped woman entrepreneur, to a woman performing surgery, to a woman watering plants. International Women’s Day 2022: Google Doodle Celebrates Multitude Roles Of Women In Society

Today’s Google Doodle has been illustrated by Doodle Art Director Thoka Maer.

International Women’s Day 2022: Theme 

The theme for International Women’s Day 2022 is "Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow," whereas as the campaign theme is #BreakTheBias. The purpose behind this theme is to highlight the contribution of those women and girls who are working towards promotion of climate change adaptation, mitigation, and response in their communities.

The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, popularly known as UN Women in a statement said, “The year 2022 is pivotal for achieving gender equality in the context of climate change and environmental and disaster risk reduction, which are some of the greatest global challenges of the twenty-first century,”

“Without gender equality today a sustainable future and an equal future remains beyond our reach,” the statement added.
