Elderly couple dies as 128kg wife crushed her husband in Rajkot

New Delhi: An unusual incident took place when an aged couple died after the woman fell on her husband after she slipped from the staircase. The incident occurred in Ramdhan society in the posh area of Kalavad Road in Rajkot. The 68-year-old, Manjula Vithlani, slipped over the staircase when she was hurriedly going towards her son, Ashish who has developed a breathing problem. Manju, who weighed around 128kg, crushed her husband Natvarlal as he was following her upstairs to see their son. The husband got seriously injured in the accident, after which they were rushed to a private hospital, where both of them were declared dead by the doctors, due to cerebral haemorrhage. Their son Ashish with his wife Nisha used to live on the first floor of the bungalow, while the aged couple was living on the ground floor. According to reports, at around 4am, Ashish developed breathing problems after which Nisha went downstairs to look out for medicines. When the elderly couple got to know about it, the couple stressed out and ran upstairs to check the health of their son. However, Manjula lost her balanced and she slipped off due to which she crushed her husband, unintentionally. Nisha also tried to reach out to them, but she slipped on the floor, due to which she could not save her in-laws. She also suffered injuries to her leg.
