WATCH: Dia Mirza Highlights Importance Of Plant-Based Diet By Showing Her Homemade Meal

Dia Mirza's advocacy for a plant-based lifestyle aligned with her commitment to sustainability and the well-being of the planet.

Actor Dia Mirza continues to inspire with her insightful messages. In her latest Instagram post, she shed light on the significance of embracing a plant-based diet as a way to contribute to the well-being of our planet. The Bollywood diva believes in the power of "ghar ka khana" (home-cooked food) and emphasised the positive impact of including leafy greens, lentils, and cereals in our diets.

In a video shared on her Instagram, Dia Mirza showcased her homemade meal for the day, which consisted of bhindi (ladyfinger), palak (spinach) daal, minced gobhi (cauliflower), and roti. Alongside the video, she expressed her concerns about the rising global temperatures and emphasised that every individual can take action against climate change. She suggested adopting a mostly plant-based diet as one of the ways to make a difference at an individual level and help mitigate the effects of climate change.

The caption of the video read: "This week the world broke the daily temperature record. This affects us. Each and every one of us. Every individual can #ActOnClimate. “Every one of us can #ActNow to help create a better and more sustainable future. In India, we have always known and understood the benefits of plant-based meals. Give me dal, chawal, sabzi and I am happiest! What is your favourite home-cooked food?” Mirza added.

Mirza, 41, said in the accompanying video, "I love ghar ka khana." Hazy green lentils and cereals are extremely beneficial to human nutrition and health. And also good for the environment."

Dia Mirza also highlighted the wisdom of Indian cuisine, stating that it has always recognised and valued the benefits of plant-based meals. She urged everyone to eat seasonal and locally sourced fruits and vegetables, as they contribute not only to personal health but also to the health of the planet.

The concept of a plant-based diet, which prioritised fruits, vegetables, legumes, and grains while reducing or eliminating animal products, has gained traction worldwide due to its numerous health and environmental benefits. By shifting towards a plant-based diet, individuals can reduce their carbon footprint, conserve water resources, and contribute to the preservation of biodiversity.
