Chaitra Navratri 2022: Chaitra Navratri is being observed with full fervour across the country. Today is the sixth day and devotees are worshiping Maa Katyayani. This year devotees observed the first day of the nine-day long festival on April 2 by worshiping Maa Shailputri. The festivity will conclude on April 11 with Navratri Parana.
Chaitra Navratri is observed during the full moon phase, which is referred to as the Shukla Paksha phase. Devotees fast on the first and the last day of the festival, or through all the days. People do not consume onion, garlic, eggs, meat and alcohol on these days.

The first day of the month of Chaitra is celebrated with different names across the country from Gudi Padwa to Ugadi. Devotees worship nine incarnations of Goddess Durga on these days, and each one of them teaching a different lesson about life. The nine days began on the first day of Hindu lunar calendar, celebrated in the month of Chaitra.

The last two days of Navratri has a special significance among Hindus and celebrated with much fervour. On these two days, devotees conduct a popular ritual called Kanya Puja. Maa Mahagauri and Maa Siddhidatri are worshipped on the eighth and ninth day, respectively of the festival. This year ashtami falls on April 9 while Ram Navami is being celebrated on April 10.
