The controversy surrounding the recent blast in Kannur district continued on Thursday with BJP and Congress in Kerala mounting allegations against CPI(M) of being involved in the incident. The blast that took place on April 5 resulted in the loss of one life and injured three others in Panoor of Kannur district. However, the Left party denied any involvement in the blast.
Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) demanded a CBI probe and also alleged that Kerala police were helping DYFI. KPCC acting president MM Hassan said, "The Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee today demanded CBI inquiry on Panoor bomb blast case. Now Kerala police's inquiry is helping the culprits belonging to the DYFI. CM Pinarayi Vijayan is holding the home portfolio to give direction to the police to suppress the investigation and to help the culprits of CPM workers."
"So I demanded the Election Commission to direct the CBI to inquire into this bomb blast case as it is really a terrorist activity and the culprits should be punished," he said, as per ANI.
CPM Denies Allegation
"The party has no role in it. We have no need to make bombs. Many of our workers were attacked and killed. We did not retaliate. Instead, we organised public protests against the same. So, we have no need for bombs," he told reporters in Kannur.
