Kerala 'Human Sacrifice': Police Suspect Cannibalism, Confirm Shafi As Prime Accused
A detailed scientific investigation took the police to the Pathanamthitta district, where the police could recover parts of the victims' bodies
The Ernakulam District Sessions Court on Wednesday sent the three accused in alleged ritualistic human sacrifice to judicial custody, Kochi City Police Commissioner CH Nagaraju while addressing the media confirmed that Shafi is the prime accused and a pervert.
The police also said that there's a possibility that the accused ate parts of body after killing the victims. A detailed scientific investigation took the police to the Pathanamthitta district, where the police could recover parts of the victims' bodies.
Stating that the prime accused is a conspirator and a pervert, Nagaraju said, "We didn't find anything earlier when we questioned Shafi, the prime accused. A scientific investigation led us to Pathanamthitta. Shafi is the main conspirator & a pervert, we got to know while investigating."
The Kochi city commissioner said that still they are investigating as the department suspect cannibalism. "There's a possibility that the accused ate parts of the body after killing the victims. It is being investigated, but not confirmed yet. Prime accused Shafi is a pervert. We're investigating whether there are more accused and if more such cases happened.
"We have recovered all parts of the bodies of the two women who were killed. Parts of the body of one of the victim women were recovered from three pits where they were buried," the Kochi commissioner added.

The deceased were identified as Roselin and Padma. Two women from the Ernakulam district were missing since June and September. the accused were identified as Bhagaval Singh, Laila and Shafi. When police were investigating Padma's missing case, which was registered in September, they learnt that she was taken away by Shafi, the agent, to the Pathanamthitta district.
