Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan Slams BJP, Calls Arrest Of Delhi Dy CM Manish Sisodia 'Blatant Abuse Of Power'

Kerala CM Vijayan claimed that BJP misuses the Union Government's agencies to intimidate the Opposition

A day after Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia in the Delhi liquor scam, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday slammed Union Government and said that arresting the AAP leader is a blatant abuse of power and an attack on democracy. He claimed that BJP misuses the Union Government's agencies to intimidate the Opposition.

Taking to Twitter, Kerala CM said, "The arrest of Manish Sisodia by CBI is another example of how BJP misuses the Union Government's agencies to intimidate the Opposition. It's a blatant abuse of power and an attack on democracy. Such repression undermines the very foundation of our nation and should be resisted."

As reported earlier, a Delhi court on Monday sent Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia to five-day CBI custody till March 4 in connection with alleged corruption in the now-withdrawn liquor policy. Special CBI Judge MK Nagpal acceded to CBI's request for five days of custody to question Sisodia.

Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders and workers held protests in several states against the arrest of Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in connection with alleged corruption in the now-scrapped excise policy relating to the sale of alcohol, said a PTI report.

The Aam Aadmi Party has reportedly observed the day as a "black day". The party alleged that 80 per cent of its leaders have been “arrested” by police, and questioned whether anyone can be in “police detention” for 24 hours. Meanwhile, Police said the leaders were detained on Sunday and were being released on Monday. Police on Sunday detained 50 people, including AAP MP Sanjay Singh and minister Gopal Rai, who were protesting near the CBI office.
