Kerala CM Urges 'Collective Action' For Palestinian Kids' Safety On Children's Day

In a Facebook post on Children's Day, commemorating Jawaharlal Nehru's birthday, Pinarayi Vijayan underscored the distressing conditions endured by Palestinian children in the midst of the war.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Children's Day (Tuesday) highlighted the government's duty to safeguard the rights of children, drawing attention to the urgent need for collective efforts in addressing the challenges faced by Palestinian children amidst the ongoing conflict with Israel. In a Facebook post on Children's Day, commemorating Jawaharlal Nehru's birthday, the Chief Minister underscored the distressing conditions endured by Palestinian children in the midst of the war.

Kerala CM Pinarayi also urged for a collective commitment to ensuring the safety and rehabilitation of Palestinian children, turning the occasion into a poignant reminder of the global responsibility to protect and support the well-being of all children.

On the day, Vijayan said, “It is impossible to forget that the atrocities against children in different parts of the world at this stage hurt our hearts. Sad images of children who are victims of Israeli attacks on Palestine are all over the news media.”

“4609 children were killed in Israeli attacks in Gaza alone. The faces of many children who have been seriously injured and orphaned after losing family members have become a scar on the human conscience. There will be no relief for these tragedies until Israel's occupation is ended with the support of imperial forces,” he said.

As a result, Kerala CM called on progressive forces of the world to raise their voice together for the cause. He also said that the Children's Day could be a reminder of collective actions for the safety and rehabilitation of Palestinian children.

Further, CM Vijayan said that the availability of nutritious food, healthcare, and quality education are the inherent rights of every child born in the world. Safeguarding these rights is a fundamental responsibility of governments, the CPI(M) leader said.
