A day after Vijayendra Yediyurappa was appointed as Karnataka BJP State President, former Karnataka CM and his father Yediyurappa vowed to bag a minimum of 25 Lok Sabha seats in the general elections next year. On the appointment as the BJP president of Karnataka, Vijayendra Yediyurappa thanked national leaders JP Nadda, PM Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and BL Santosh for their confidence in him. He affirmed his commitment to leveraging this opportunity to fortify the party and enhance its presence in the state. However, the statement of Vijayendra and his father Yediyurappa comes at a time when Congress has been mocking BJP for practicing “anti-nepotism” by elevating the former Karnataka CM's son in the party's state unit.

On his appointment, Vijayendra Yediyurappa said, "I would like to thank our national president JP Nadda, PM Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BL Santosh for having faith in me and giving me this opportunity to serve as the BJP president of Karnataka. I will take this opportunity to strengthen the party."

Senior BJP leader and Vijayendra’s father Yediyurappa said that the BJP leaders would tour the state in order to win minimum 25 Lok Sabha constituencies in general elections 2024. He said, "We never expected that Modi ji, Amit Shah ji and Nadda ji are going to take this decision and finally they have given opportunity to Vijayendra as president of the party to work in the state. Our only aim is that we must win minimum 25 Lok Sabha constituencies, for that we will tour the entire state. All our workers are very happy."
