New Delhi: A noteworthy figure in the Telugu film industry, actor Chandra Mohan, passed away today, November 11. He was 82. In a private hospital in Hyderabad, Chandra Mohan was reportedly receiving treatment for heart-related problems. He passed away around 9:45 a.m. due to cardiac arrest. With the passing away of Chandra Mohan, Telugu film has lost one of its best talents.


Chandra Mohan is survived by his wife, Jalandhara and two children. His funeral will take place on Monday in Hyderabad since several of his relatives would need to travel there from far away to attend. 


After hearing the tragic news, megastar Chiranjeevi wrote a heartfelt letter of condolence. On X, he expressed his sadness, writing, “It is very sad to know that the senior actor and protagonist Chandramohan Garu, who left an indelible mark in the minds of Telugu people through his versatile acting skills in many such films as 'Sirisirimuvva', 'Sankarabharanam', 'Radhakalyanam' and 'Nakoo Pellam Khali' is no more. In my debut film 'Pranam Kharidu' he gave an outstanding performance in the role of a mute. Our first acquaintance on that occasion turned into a good friendship and an even greater bond. It is a personal loss for me to no longer be close to him. May his soul rest in peace, my deepest condolences to his family and fans."


Mallampalli Chandrasekhar Rao, also known as Chandra Mohan, was a relative of late filmmaker and Dada Sahab Phalke award winner K Vishwanath. The late S P Balasubrahmanyam, a well-known playback singer, was a close relative of his.


Chandra Mohan entered the cinema profession in 1966 with the film ‘Rangula Ratnam’, for which he won the Nandi award for best actor from the state government of Andhra Pradesh, where he was born on May 23, 1943. He appeared in approximately 900 films overall, including 175 as the protagonist. He was well-liked by the public and avoided controversy at all costs.
