In a sharp retort to BJP's recent appointment of senior leader Yediyurappa's son BY Vijayendra as the new Karnataka BJP president on Friday, the Congress took a swipe at the ruling party, accusing it of perpetuating "dynasty politics". On Friday, BJP informed about the elevation of Vijayendra on a party letterhead. The communique from Arun Singh, National General Secretary of BJP, said, "BJP National President Jagat Prakash Nadda has appointed Vijayendra Yediyurappa, MLA as State President of Karnataka BJP. This appointment comes into immediate effect."
Taking to X, Congress in Karnataka said, "Congratulations to "Son of Yeddyurappa" who has been elected as the new state president of BJP. We appeal to the people of the state to believe the lie that "there is no family politics in BJP."
Indian Youth Congress National President Srinivas said, "The BJP is a shining example of anti-nepotism in Karnataka. The party has shown its commitment to meritocracy by appointing BS Yediyurappa's son Vijayendra as the Karnataka BJP State President."
"The BJP is truly a party with a difference. #ThankYouModiJi," he said.
After the appointment, Vijayendra Yediyurappa said, "My Humble Pranams to Honourable PM Shri @narendramodi ji for entrusting me with this huge responsibility as the State President of @BJP4Karnataka."
"I consider this as a divine opportunity to work with our beloved Karyakarthas under the able guidance of Senior Leaders in building a strong organizational foundation that envisages the Nationalistic ideals and principles of our Party and its great founders," he said.
