'Go To Pakistan': Karnataka Teacher Tells 2 Muslim Students In Her Class, Transferred. Matter Under Probe
A teacher at a government school in Karnataka's Shivamogga allegedly told a couple of Muslim students in her class to "go to Pakistan". The teacher has been transferred and is facing a departmental probe.
A teacher at a government school in Karnataka's Shivamogga has been transferred after she allegedly told two Muslim students to go to Pakistan. The Karnataka Department of School Education and Literacy has directed a departmental probe against her, news agency IANS reported. The teacher identified as Manjula Devi was working at Urdu Government Higher Primary School in Shivamogga and has been transferred to a school at Hosamana Tanda in Hassan taulk.
As per an IANS report, the teacher is said to have told a couple of Class 5 students to go to Pakistan while she was scolding them for making noise during her class.
The incident took place on August 30, the report mentioned. It was further reported that she told the Muslim students that India is a country of Hindus and they should go to Pakistan. The students upon reporting home after school, reported the matter to their parents who then contacted the local leaders.
Some recorded statements of the students were also circulated on social media by a few people, the report stated.
After the claims, Block Education Officer P. Nagaraj visited the Shivamogga school to conduct a preliminary investigation wherein the teacher denied the allegation. As per IANS, she contended that she was disciplining the students who were being unruly in class and were not respecting her. But, the students reiterated the allegation about her iterations.
After a complaint by A. Nazrullah, a local leader of Janata Dal-S, the authorities took action to transfer her.
The incident has come to light after a video of a private school in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar went viral where a Muslim student was slapped by his classmates on the instructions given by a female teacher. The widely circulated video led to massive outcry while the teacher claimed that the viral clip was edited to show her in poor light.
