What Is ECI's 'Electhon' Initiative CEC Announced Ahead Of Karnataka Poll Dates
The phase 2 will be a 20-hour offline hackathon for shortlisted teams for developing solutions, said the EC.
The Election Commission of India has announced an 'Electhon' initiative ahead of Karnataka Assembly polls 2023.
According to ECI, Electhon 2023 is aimed at engaging professionals and the knowledge industry.
Phase 1 of Electhon 2023 commenced on March 10, 2023 will go on for 21 days. The phase 2 will be a 20-hour offline hackathon for shortlisted teams for developing solutions, said the EC.
Overall 746 teams registered.
Till now, 1012 participants took part in the Electhon.
The colleges onboarded include Indian Institute of Technology, Dharward, National Institute of Technology, Karnataka, Indian Institute of Information Technology, Raichur Rajarajeswari College of Engineering, Banglore, Cambridge Institute of Technology, Bangalore, PES Institute of Technology, Bangalore, Dayanad Sagar University, BMS College of Engineering, Bangalore, Dr Ambedkar Insitute of Technology, Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering, Sri Siddhartha Insitute of Technology and Jain University among others.
On Wednesday, Election Commission announced the schedule for Karnataka Assembly elections. The polling will take place on May 10 and the results will be declared on May 13.
After the announcement, the Model Code of Conduct comes into force.
Karnataka has 5.2 crore of total electors.
"We have directed all the enforcement authorities on this," said the CEC Rajiv Kumar.

Currently, three major parties including Congress, BJP and JD(S) are in the fray.
The Congress released the first list of candidates last week.
The BJP is yet to announce the candidates for the constituencies.
After the announcement, Karnataka CM Bommai cancelled all government programmes.
"Last time, the announcement was made on March 27. This time we expected it to be announced after March 27. Since the model code of conduct will apply after the announcement, I have cancelled all my tour programmes," he said, as per IANS.
CM Bommai said that henceforth, he will participate actively in the rallies, campaigns and party activities.
