Chennai: The Congress on Saturday demanded Supreme Court-monitored SIT probe into the alleged multi-crore Bitcoin scam and the alleged coverup by the BJP government in Karnataka. The former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi taking to Twitter said, that the bitcoin scam is big but the attempt to cover up the scam is much bigger.
Rahul Gandhi said, "Bitcoin Scam is big. But Bitcoin Scam Cover-up is much bigger. Because it has to cover up someone’s fake big ego."
According to a report on PTI, Congress General Secretary and chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala in a press conference on Saturday asked PM Modi about the role of Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai, who was then the Home Minister of the state, while the scam was reported in Karnataka. The Congress General Secretary also asked why not even Interpol was informed about the Bitcoins.

Further, Randeep Surjewala alleged that Karnataka's Bitcoin Scam is the biggest ever scam but the state government led by BJP is not conducting a fair probe. The BJP government is involved in "Operation Bitcoin Scam Coverup" to cover an international crime, he said.
The Congressman then said that ED or Karnataka police cannot do a fair job in the investigation and demanded the Supreme Court to set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the case.
Surjewala also questioned PM's silence in the case and said that PM was informed about the bitcoin scam by an Indian, who hacked several bitcoin portals to earn money, even during his US visit by FBI.
