Ravi Shastri's tenure as team India's coach has ended with the T20 World Cup. It was a long journey of ups and down for the veteran. Although he managed to take the Indian team to some glorious Test victories in overseas conditions, Shastri did not manage to win a single ICC Trophy.

Shastri has ended his journey with a special note for his main players and the three captains of Indian cricket at various occasions during Shastri's tenure. While mentioning Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, and Rohit Sharma, Ravi Shastri wrote: "Now that the penny has dropped…thank you so much for making me part of this incredible journey. Memories that I will cherish and a team that I will continue to back till the time I’m able to watch the sport #TeamIndia"

Ravi Shastri has played 150 ODIs and 80 Test matches for India. He joined as an Indian coach in 2014. India came close to winning the Test Championship against New Zealand but lost it in the final days of the match. It is also a matter of fact that Indian won 28 out of 46 Test matches under Ravi Shastri.

Post Shastri, ex-India skipper Rahul Dravid has been appointed as the Indian cricket team's head coach. He will take charge from the upcoming home series against New Zealand.
