New Delhi: The Shivamogga district in Karnataka has been witnessing turmoil and a political slugfest between ruling BJP and the opposition parties in the state as a repercussion of Bajrang Dal activist Harsha's murder on late Sunday evening.

On Tuesday, Leader of Opposition and former CM of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah mounted pressure on the ruling government in the state by demanding that minister Eashwarappa should be prosecuted.

"Govt imposed Section 144 in Shivamogga, he violated it. He led the procession (for taking the body of Bajrang Dal activist Harsha to his home). He himself instigated it. He should be immediately prosecuted," said Siddaramaiah as quoted by news agency ANI.

Responding to Siddaramaiah's comments, Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnanendra said that Minister Eshwarappa didn't lead the procession (for taking the Bajrang Dal activist to his home) but he was in procession as local MLA, news agency ANI reported. He further said stern action will be taken against people who damaged the property.

Violence erupted in Shivamogga on Monday as a Bajrang Dal activist was murdered. Meanwhile, on Tuesday Karnataka Additional DGP, Pratap Reddy said that all accused have been identified. The investigation is still underway, he further said.
