Two Delhi Police personnel suspended for negligence in crackers ban issue

New Delhi [India], October 17 (ANI): Two Delhi Police personnel have been suspended on Tuesday for negligence after Vigilance Unit found a shopkeeper for illegally selling crackers even after the Supreme Court's order to ban the sale of firecrackers till November 1.

A departmental inquiry has been ordered in this case.

A 40-year-old shopkeeper, who runs mobile recharge shop, was arrested for allegedly selling firecrackers.

Meanwhile, the DCP has said that strict action will be taken against SHO and the beat staff, if anyone is found to be selling cracker in their area.

The Supreme Court, on October 9, restored the ban on the sale of firecrackers till November 1. While delivering its order, the court said it wants to test the effect of the ban on air quality after Diwali.

The apex court, earlier on October 6, had reserved its order on the review petition over lifting the ban on firecrackers.(ANI)
