Nirmala Sitharaman (60) has been one of the crucial women ministers in the previous Modi government and is among one of the six female ministers who have been sworn in as part of the new government on May 30. Sitharaman has been serving as the Minister of Defence of India since 2017 and has served as Member of the Rajya Sabha, upper house of the Indian Parliament, since 2016. Sitharaman is India's second female defence minister after former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Sitharaman has been given Finance Ministry and Minister of Corporate Affairs in Modi government 2.0. She has been a strong advocate of promoting afforestation, social and cultural values, protecting cows, uplifting poor children and helping women from financially weak backgrounds get married. Irani became the youngest cabinet minister in 2014 after the BJP won a massive victory in the Lok Sabha polls and was assigned the high-profile Human Resource Development ministry.
