Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], July 31 (ANI): The Kauvery Hospital on Tuesday said that Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) chief M. Karunanidhi's vital signs have gradually normalised but he will continue to remain under observation.

In a statement, Executive Director of Kauvery Hospital, Dr Aravindaran Selvaraj said, "there has been a resolution of the condition which led to his hospital admission, an extended period of hospitalization will be necessary due to age-related overall decline in Karunanidhi's general health, altered liver functions and haematological parameters. He continues to maintain his vital signs with active medical support."

Earlier in the day, Congress President Rahul Gandhi and representatives of Malaysian Indian Congress visited Karunanidhi.

Yesterday, representatives of Sri Lankan President, Maithripala Sirisena visited the ailing former Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister.
