Greater Noida building collapse: Death toll rises to 9

Uttar Pradesh (Noida) [India], Jul 19 (ANI): The death toll in the Greater Noida building collapse rose to nine on Thursday, after the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) retrieved four more bodies from the rubble.

Two under construction buildings, in Greater Noida's Shah Beri village collapsed on Tuesday night.

The search and rescue operation is still underway in the village, to locate several other persons which are feared to be trapped under the debris.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath earlier on Wednesday announced compensation of Rs. two lakh each for the next of kin of those killed in the incident.

The chief minister also announced Rs 50,000 each for the injured.

At least four people have been arrested till now in connection with the matter and the District Magistrate has set up a magisterial inquiry under the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) executive to probe the case. (ANI)
