Occasionally, you may not feel hungry in the morning. But if it becomes a daily habit and you start skipping breakfast daily, it may harm the body in the long run. The body is without food for about 7 to 8 hours when we sleep in the night. When you have breakfast, it means you break the fast after 7 to 8 hours of sleep. So, skipping breakfast is not advisable.

Side-effects of abstaining from breakfast:
1- Effect on blood sugar If you have trained your body to skip breakfast, your blood sugar level may get affected. Eating breakfast helps to restore glycogen and stabilize insulin levels. This has been mentioned in the Journal of Frontiers of Human Neuroscience. If you don't replenish your sugar level first thing in the morning, you will feel agitated, irritable, and tired. This is a sign that you need at least three meals a day.
2- Immunity goes down Your immunity reduces when you skip breakfast regularly. Research has shown that not eating breakfast can harm your cells. The body needs regular food to maintain a healthy level of immune cells that can fight infection and improve the function of T-cells in the body. We need strong immunity especially during the corona pandemic, to fight infection and ward off viral diseases.
3- Metabolism slows down According to an article published in the International Journal of Obesity, eating a morning meal increases metabolism and prompts your body to burn calories throughout the day. Skipping breakfast will lead to weight gain. If you do not eat in the morning, your hunger and sugar cravings will be high. You will end up consuming more food due to hunger pangs.
4- Regular headache and dizziness Your body needs energy for daily activities. Shortage of glucose may impact the functioning of brain cells. Therefore, skipping breakfast causes headaches and dizziness. It is a sign that your body needs to eat.
