In His Review Meeting With CMs, PM Modi Suggests This '72-Hr Formula' To Defeat Coronavirus

PM Modi pointed out the significance of each and every state in containing the spread of Coronavirus infection and also urged some of them to increase the number of testing.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday held yet another video conference with Chief Ministers of various states to review the Covid-19 situation in the country. While speaking to CMs of Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal, PM Modi pointed out the significance of each and every state in containing the spread of Coronavirus infection and also urged some of them to increase the number of testing. "Every state is fighting the battle against the challenging situation arising due to COVID-19 pandemic. Role of each and every state is very significant in overall control of the spread of the disease," Prime Minister said. While pointing out a 72 hour formulae to contain the spread of Coronavirus, PM Modi said that experts are of the opinion that if within 72 hours, a person is diagnosed, then the spread can be controlled to a great extent. "It is important that all the people who come in contact with an infected person must be tested within 72 hours," he said. ALSO READ | Can Mouthwash Save You From Covid Transmission Risk? Here's What Research Study Reveals "The average fatality rate has been continuously decreasing while the recovery rate is increasing every day, this shows that measures being taken by us are in the right direction," PM Modi said. "We have seen that in some districts of UP, Haryana & Delhi, there was a phase when COVID-19 became a huge problem. Then we held a review meeting and a committee was formed under the chairmanship of Amit Shah and to a great extent, we achieved the results that we wanted," PM told Chief Ministers. As of today, Maharashtra continues to the worse-hit state in the country with highest number of Covid-19 cases, followed by Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. According to reports, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh have reported the highest number of coronavirus disease cases and deaths in the last 24 hours. In the meeting, PM Modi also pointed out that 80 per cent of the country’s active cases are from these 10 states that is why their role is very important in the fight against Corona. “There is a need to increase testing in states where the testing rate is low and where the positivity rate is high. Centre is giving special focus on increasing testing particularly in Bihar, Gujarat, UP, West Bengal and Telangana during reviews,” PM Modi said. ALSO READ | Covid 19: Serum Institute Of India Caps Oxford Vaccine 'Covishield' Ceiling Price At Rs 225/Dose The Prime Minister also noted that that containment, contact tracing and surveillance are the most effective weapon against the viral disease. During the meeting, even the Chief Ministers asked PM Modi for a liberal financial package and sought removal of cap on spending funds from the State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF) to boost economic situation that has been reeling under the pandemic.
