After a slight improvement in the Covid-19 spread, Maharashtra has once reported rising cases of Covid-19 in various areas. Taking a note of the development, Thane Municipal Corporation has announced to imposes lockdown in COVID hotspot areas from March 13 to March 31, 2021. So far, 16 areas have been identified as hotspots in Thane.
According to the reports, Municipal Commissioner Dr Vipin Sharma issued the Lockdown orders stating that decision was taken due to rise in COVID-19 cases in these areas in the past few days.

As far as the restrictions are concerned, the authorities said that all restrictions that were in place during the nationwide lockdown declared earlier would be in force during this time as well.
With the addition of 610 new cases, the Thane district on Tuesday morning reported a caseload of 2,70,455. As per the latest health bulletin, four more persons succumbed to the deadly disease, pushing the toll in the district to 6,306.
So far, 2,56,869 patients have recuperated from the infection in the district, which reflects a recovery rate of 94.97 per cent. There are 7,280 active COVID-19 cases in the district at present
On the whole, Maharashtra on Monday witnessed a dip as 8,744 new infections came to light. The caseload in the state rose to 22,28,471. Maharashtra reported 22 fatalities pushing the death toll to 52,500 while as many as 9,068 persons were discharged from hospitals, taking the total of recoveries to 20,77,112.
