In view of the sudden rise in the number of COVID-19 cases in Tamil Nadu, the state government has tighten the travel guidelines in order to control the further spread of the novel disease. The Tamil Nadu Health and Family Welfare Department have issued fresh travel guidelines as per which, E-pass is mandatory for all international passengers and domestic travellers.
Three states - Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and the neighbouring Puducherry union territory - have been exempted from the new rule and allowed entry in the state.

The e-pass generated by the travellers visiting the state helps the government to trace them or their contacts if they had tested Covid-19 positive during their stay in the state.
According to a government order issued earlier this month, an auto e-pass is mandatory for all international and domestic passengers from other states and union territories. However, those from Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry were exempted.
As per the latest bulletin on the Covid-19 update, Tamil Nadu on Sunday continued to witness an upward trend in its daily tally with 567 new cases being reported, pushing the gross to 8.55 lakh.
