India's Covid-19 Tally Surges Past 56 Lakh-Mark With 83,000 New Cases; Recovery Rate Stands At 81.25%

India's Covid-19 cases continue to rise and have surged past the 56 lakh mark. According to data, the country recorded 83,527 new cases in the last 24- hours. The Ministry of Health has informed that the recovery rate remains high.

Covid cases in India: India’s coronavirus cases continue to rise steadily and has now breached the 56 lakh mark. In the last 24 hours the India which is the number second worst affected country recorded around 83,527 new cases. Whereas the fatalities recorded in 24 hours was 1,085. With these figures, India has become not only the country with the most active cases but also the third country with the largest number of fatalities. But amid the grim figures, India's recovery rate is giving a ray of hope. In 24 hours the country has recorded 89, 746 recovery cases. The Ministry has also shared an infographic that shows the changes. According to data by the Ministry of Health, the total number of active cases stands at 9,68,377, but the recovery rate remains high and has reached 45,87,613 mark. The total number of fatalities caused by the infection has crossed 90,000 and reached 90,020. Maharashtra remains one of the worst affected state in the country. On Wednesday, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was admitted to the Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Hospital in Delhi on Wednesday after complaints of fever and low oxygen levels. He had tested positive for the virus on September 14 following which he opted to undergo home isolation. Union Minister of State for Railways Suresh Angadi also passed away on Wednesday due to Covid 19.  The senior minister was admitted to AIIMS in Delhi after contracting Coronavirus. The 65-year old MP from Karnataka's Belagavi constituency had tested positive for the deadly Covid-19 infection on September 11. As of Thursday morning, the total number of cases stood at 31,787,190 and the fatalities rose to 975,038, the University's Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) revealed in its latest update. The US is the worst-hit country with the world's highest number of cases and deaths at 6,943,071 and 201,957, respectively, according to the CSSE.
