Even As Daily Cases Sees Dip, Health Minister Warns Next 3 Months Crucial In Determining Covid-19 Situation In The Country
Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan has said that the next three months will be crucial in determining the Covid-19 situation in the country. This comes at a time when the country is witnessing a fall in the number of active cases.
New Delhi: While the coronavirus cases in India shows a gradual dip in the number of active cases, the Union Health Minister Dr.Harsh Vardhan has said that the next three months are going to be crucial in determining the Covid-19 situation in the country.

On Friday India recorded a lower count of fresh Covid-19 cases with less than 55k new infections. The country also crossed the 10 crore-mark of testing. As per the update by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, with 54,366 new Covid-19 infections, India's total cases surged to 77,61,312. With 690 new deaths, the toll mounts to 1,17,306.
It stated that the total active cases are 6,95,509 after a decrease of 20,303 in the last 24 hrs. Total cured cases are 69,48,497 with 73,979 new discharges in last 24 hrs. The Ministry has said that India's cumulative Positivity Rate is 7.81% and the daily figure is 3.8%.
According to the health minister, adequate precautions will go a long way in ensuring that India is able to successfully beat the virus.
“Appropriate measures are being taken to combat Covid-19. But the next three months are going to be decisive in determining the situation of Covid in the country. If we take adequate precaution and follow Covid-appropriate behaviour in the coming festival and winter season, we will be in a better position to fight corona,” said Vardhan addressing a review meeting with officials of the Uttar Pradesh government in a report by ANI.

He also said that states need to focus on increasing testing, surveillance, contact tracing, and early diagnosis to keep the fatality rate low.
“For a big state like Uttar Pradesh, it becomes important that maximum thrust is given to simple precautionary measures which are effective in preventing the Coronavirus to a large extent like wearing mask/face cover especially in public spaces, and following hand and respiratory etiquettes,” said Vardhan in the report.
Even the Prime Minister in his recent address to the nation on October 20, urged citizens to remain vigilant not let their guard down.
