'Har Ghar Dastak' Campaign | Ensure Adults Get At Least One COVID Vaccine Jab: Health Minister To States

With the ongoing 'Har Ghar Dastak' campaign, Union Health Minister further urged the state and UT to make sure that the entire adult population at least gets one dose of the covid-19 vaccination.

New Delhi: Highlighting that the battle against the covid-19 pandemic is at its final stage, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Thursday asked the state government to not let the guard down and urged them to speed up the vaccination drive and motivate nearly 12 crore beneficiaries who are due for their second dose of the covid-19 vaccination to take it.

With the ongoing 'Har Ghar Dastak' campaign, Union Health Minister further urged the state and UT to make sure that the entire adult population at least gets one dose of the covid-19 vaccination.

As per the statement issued by the Ministry of Health, Mandaviya, in a virtual conference with the Health Ministers states and union territories, remarked that the ongoing fight against the pandemic is at its final stage.

"The two weapons of vaccination and CAB (COVID-19-appropriate behaviour) will be our greatest defence against it and we should not let our guard down before it is completely over," Mandaviya was quoted by PTI in its report.

The minister further said that currently, 78% of the adult population has received its first dose of the covid-19 vaccine, while 38% have received both doses of the vaccine.

"Let us ensure collectively through collaborative and multi-stakeholder efforts that no eligible citizen is left without the 'suraksha kawachh' of COVID-19 vaccine in the country. Let us reach each corner and household across the country and motivate people to take both the doses under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Har Ghar Dastak' campaign," he adds.

Emphasising that the covid-19 vaccination reduces the implication of the virus, Mandaviya further suggests that adherence to the covid appropriate behaviour is equally essential in order to ensure that the country doesn't face any other surge in the covid-18 cases, the statement said.

The Minister further said to the states and UTs that the battle against the pandemic is not over yet.

"We shouldn't think that Covid is over. Cases are rising globally. In Singapore, Britain, Russia and China cases are rising again despite more than 80 per cent vaccination. Vaccination and Covid-appropriate behaviour should go hand in hand," he said.
