Delhi: Congress Releases Second List Of 26 Candidates, Names Ex-AAP MLAs Asim Khan, Devinder Sehrawat

Former AAP MLAs Asim Ahmed Khan and Devinder Sehrawat had switched to Congress in presence of Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav on Monday.

The Congress on Tuesday released the second list of candidates for Delhi Assembly Elections, naming turncoats Asim Ahmed Khan from Matia Mahal and Devinder Sehrawat from Bijwasan.

Former AAP MLAs Asim Ahmed Khan and Devinder Sehrawat had switched to Congress in presence of Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav on Monday. 

The Congress fielded Sushant Mishra from Rithala, Hanuman Chauhan from Mangol Puri, Satish Luthra from Shakur Basti, Satender Sharma from Tri Nagar and Rajender Namdhari from Moti Nagar.

The list also included J.P. Panwar from Madipur, Dharmpal Chandela from Rajouri Garden, Mukesh Sharma from Uttam Nagar, Raghuvinder Shokeen from Matiala, Pradeep Kumar Upmanyu from Delhi Cantt and Vineet Yadav from Rajinder Nagar.

The party also named Farhad Suri from Jangpura, Jitender Kumar Kochar from Malviya Nagar, Pushpa Singh from Mehrauli, Rajesh Chauhan from Deoli, Harsh Chaudhary from Sangam Vihar, Amardeep from Trilokpuri, Akshay Kumar from Kondli, Sumit Sharma from Laxmi Nagar and Gurcharan Singh Raju from Krishna Nagar.

Party candidate Farhad Suri will take on AAP leader Manish Sisodia from the Jangpura assembly seat. Others named in the list include Rajesh Lilotia from Seemapuri, Haji Mohd Ishraq Khan from Babarpur, Pramod Kumar Jayant from Gokalpur and Dr. P.K. Mishra from Karawal Nagar.

The second list of the party came shortly after the Congress' Central Election Committee (CEC) approved the list of candidates for the Delhi Assembly elections. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and former party chief Rahul Gandhi participated in the CEC meeting via video conferencing while Delhi in-charge Qazi Mohammad Nizamuddin and Delhi unit chief Devender Yadav, among other members of the CEC, were physically present at the AICC headquarters in the national capital.

The party released its first list of 21 candidates on Thursday, fielding ex-MP Sandeep Dikshit from New Delhi, setting up a contest between him and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal.
