New Delhi: India saw a sudden surge in cases late last month since September 2020. Few protocols that have worked so far is wearing a mask, social distancing and hand washing. This message has been repeated several times to remind people that the virus still looms and is just as dangerous even though the vaccination drive has started.
Google's Doodle on Tuesday had the same message 'Wear a Mask. Save Lives.'

According to the World Health Organization, masks are a key measure to suppress the transmission of the novel coronavirus, "depending on the type, masks can be used for either protection of healthy persons or to prevent onward transmission."
But it is an additional measure as people should practise physical distancing, avoid crowded, closed and close-contact settings, make sure there is good ventilation, should keep cleaning hands frequently, and make sure to cover up sneezes and coughs.
A mask should be worn by placing the mask on your face covering your nose, mouth and chin, make sure that there are no gaps between your face and the mask. Place the straps behind your head or ears. Do not cross the straps because this can cause gaps on the side of the mask.
The ministry of health reported that India recorded 1,03,558 new COVID-19 cases, 52,847 discharges, and 478 deaths in the last 24 hours. Eight states, including Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat, have contributed majorly to the daily caseload.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday reviewed the situation and the vaccination drive in the country. He directed that central teams consisting of public health specialists and clinicians be sent to Maharashtra in view of its high caseload and deaths, and to Punjab and Chhattisgarh as well because of the disproportionate number of deaths there, according to the official statement.
