Covid Upate: India Records Decline In Fresh Infections, Cases In Mumbai Dip By 50%

New Delhi: India has witnessed a decline in Coronavirus cases after reporting over 3,000 infections in the past few weeks. The country registered 2,288 new coronavirus infections on Monday taking the total tally of cases in India reported to 4,31,07,689. According to the data updated by the Health Ministry, the active cases which comprise of 0.05 per cent of total cases in the country have decreased to 19,637 in the last 24 hours. The country also recorded a dip in fatalities as 10 people died due to the virus taking the death toll to 5,24,103.
A decrease of 766 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.
The national COVID-19 recovery rate was 98.74 per cent, the ministry said. The positivity rate which was close to 1 per cent also recorded a sharp decline and now stands at 0.47 per cent. The weekly positivity rate has reached 0.79 per cent, according to the ministry.
The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,25,63,949, while the case fatality rate was 1.22 per cent. The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive have exceeded 190.50 crore.
Meanwhile, Mumbai on Monday reported 63 COVID-19 cases, almost 50 percent less than Sunday's addition of 123, taking the tally here to 10,60,792, a civic official said.
The death toll remained unchanged at 19,563, while the recovery count increased by 56 to touch 10,40,407, leaving the metropolis with 822 active cases, he said.
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation data showed the recovery rate was 98 per cent and the caseload doubling time was 6,347 days.
It also revealed the number of coronavirus tests carried out so far was 1,69,60,984, of which 5,810 took place in the last 24 hours.
