RIP Technoblade: Twitter Mourns Death Of Minecraft Streamer After Year-Long Battle With Cancer
Technoblade garnered over 1.29 billion views on his YouTube videos.
Technoblade, the popular YouTuber who is known for his hilarious videos on Minecraft, passed away after a year-long battle with stage 4 cancer, his family announced in a statement on July 1. The Minecraft community took to Twitter to express disbelief and shock at the passing away of the much-beloved streamer. With over 10.7 million subscribers on YouTube, Technoblade had garnered over 1.29 billion views since joining the platform on October 29, 2013. He also sold his own merch via the Technoblade online store.
Although the YouTuber kept his personal details private, his first name was revealed to be “Alex,” or Alexander, by his father as he read out the streamer’s heartfelt message to fans. There’s no confirmation from any verified sources on his age and other details.
Alexander’s family also offered an emotional statement saying, “We, the family of Technoblade, wanted you all to know just how much he adored and respected his fans and colleagues.”
“Even after his eventual successes he somehow managed to keep his good-natured humility, competing with an endearing balance between his confidence and self-deprecating wit. He avoided personal fame and worked hard to keep his true identity confidential, and we ask you to honor his wishes to protect his privacy and the privacy of his family,” the statement added. “This past year has had a lot of rough spots for our son as he battled stage 4 cancer. But he didn’t complain, and kept using his famous strategic mind to try to beat what he knew were almost impossible odds.”
Fans offered their condolences to Alexander’s family and expressed their grief on Twitter. Here are some tweets in memoriam:
Just read the news about Technoblade. I don’t even know what to say. I’m absolutely crushed. Having the opportunity to meet him and play with him in an MCC last year was an amazing experience. He was and always will be a content creator we all look up to and aspire to.
